My Grandfather isn’t even 93
For the first time in 93 years (my Grandfather isn’t even 93) the Chicago Cubs will travel to Fenway Park to play the Boston Red Sox. This series which should be known as “The Curse” features one team which hasn’t won the fall classic since 1908, the Cubs. And another which prior to 2004, hadn’t won a World Series since 1918, the Red Sox.
However, the Cubs have come close to hoisting the Commissioner’s Trophy. But thanks to the infamous Steve Bartman, Moises Alou’s failed catch will forever be a black hole on the North Side of the Windy City.
The Red Sox come into this matchup with a team that had high hopes when they entered spring training, but instead come into this game trailing the Tampa Bay Rays by 1.5 games. However, former Ray, Carl Crawford did save the day yesterday with his walk off single.
But this means nothing in regards to this series. This series isn’t just a series of two historic teams. It’s also a series featuring one of the most prominent hitters in the game, Kevin Youkilis. And guess what. He’s Jewish.
